Pontiac Autos

I was recently involved in an automobile accident. I was minding my own .....
You don’t have to be an aficionado or expert on Pontiac autos. You don’t have to have a history of mechanical acumen working on Pontiac autos. You don’t even have to be an auto expert, auto sales person, or auto owner, necessarily. You only have to have the passion for Pontiac autos—starting with the hot rods and moving up to the brand new beauties in the Pontiac line.

I am no automotive expert. (I don’t have to be, as such brilliant support and information sites as Edmonds.com exist to walk me through the purchase process.) I don’t have a great memory for specs, either. But I do have a thing, a , a, a crazy and unusual thirst or hunger or something for the early seventies Pontiac autos, specifically, the GOAT—the GTO. The spoilers, hood scoops, the split-wheel base body notwithstanding, it was the sound and feel of that big block as it out-rodded the other early seventies rods. It was the front end, with its Endura (bumper-less) bumper. It was the VOE—vacuum-operated exhaust. It was the convertible and the colors (maroon and forest green, subtle, sexy).

There’s a lot of flap over a particular automobile maker—the Ford Motor .....
Today, the Pontiac autos lover or enthusiast will tend to discuss the same features of the GTO (the new 2006 GTO, much like the 1970s Judge, has a 400hp/395lb-ft-torque, and has the same sound and growl and power, if not more.) As well, though, I would be remiss to exclude the other Pontiac autos. Though interestingly, I find them very different in personality and look and appeal than the GTO, they have earned their spot in the aficionados and enthusiasts ring: The Pontiac Grand Am and the Pontiac Sunfire, evidently, aren’t going anywhere soon: new models in 2005, including those of the Pontiac Grand Prix, are made fit for family cruising and are still adept for the driver who craves power, torque, and speed. The pick-up is still hot on the Goat, but it stays consistent in the 4-litre inline 4 of the Pontiac Solstice, as well…despite the mocking commentaries the latter has suffered.

In general, I am a Monte Carlo Mistress, loving the square lines, the pickup from 0 to 60 in three seconds, the throaty, lusty growl…. Or I could go for the seventies Chevy pickup or the early square-body Ford F150s and F250s. (Don’t care much for the rounding off of the bodies to make them look not only like wanna-be futuristic bubbles but also like most other bleh cars on the road.) But if someone with plenty to spare came along and offered me a spin in the finest of Pontiac autos and what many consider the father of hot rods—the Pontiac GTO—I wouldn’t complain.
